Watershed!

My first grey hair was detected today! Possible scope error. Perhaps the first detection of a grey hair, because with the Crazy Mane of Insanity which lives on my head, god knows how long the little bastards have been living in there, deviously subverting the youthful plans of my other follicles.

Egad! I am being dragged kicking and screaming into the world of enforced maturity! Someone pour me a scotch.

Me too. My aunt (the hairdresser) found my first gray hair this summer.

Do I get a scotch, too?

Mmmm. Scotch.

Ancrene, have a glass. I have here some absolutely toothsome 1981 from the last distillery on the Orkney Islands. Cheers!

Nice!

I've got some Talisker here to requite you: it's not from '81, but hey--it's still Talisker. And that can't be a bad thing.

Absolutely right. In any case, my feeling is that depending on the circumstance, no scotch can be bad. Admittedly, this means that on occasion I have stripped off the lining of my throat and the little hairs in my nose with the house scotch at my local pub, but hey. It did the job.

Right now, however, I'm feeling pretty relaxed, so I'm all about the quality goods.

Cheers!

I was almost going to take issue with the proposition that "no scotch can be bad," but modified with "depending on the circumstance," it's true enough. Esp. as there are ways in which a martini can be bad even in martini-appropriate circumstances. Not under my roof, though...

(I've reached the point at which I've stopped counting, and -- contemplating other Aging Male Hair Issues -- have moved on to being thankful for being able to leave large [and, importantly, so far sustainable!] piles of graying hair on the floor of the barbershop when I go in for a cut.)
