Happy birthday to me

It's my birthday! I'm 33. Which is the same age that Debbie Harry was when Blondie released Parallel Lines, which was about to score them their first number one hit, one of the greatest tracks of all time, Heart of Glass.

As an ego-booster, this may not be the best comparison I could be making. But at least it's not the Jesus one.

Happy Birthday!!!

Yay!

Debbie Harry was bitchin cool then, and I still think she's heavy. All young "chick singers" should study her before attempting any shade of cool.

You know, I totally didn't get the Jesus comparison at first. Me of all people...

Happy Birthday & make it last all weekend!!

YAY! Happy birthday, Xtin!

A belated happy birthday, Xtin!

What Heidi said about Debbie Harry. As a 'life begins in one's mid-thirties' story, it's not a bad choice at all.

What, you're still off on some sort of Blondie-inspired birthday debauchery? Well, at least circle back and let us know what kind of strange adventures you've been having.

Any news of Pluvialis from the lands of Tamurlane?

HEllo? Hello? Xtin, did you get my text and email? I hope you're alive! I tried to add a comment on my blog but I don't think it worked. In Tashkent. Many meetings. Wide, leafy streets. Fantastic visit yesterday to ex-Soviet big science SOlar Furnace in Pamir MOuntains. Fantastic bond set! Will be in touch. Xtin! Email me! Px

Hello! Hello hello! (Sidebar: fans, I shall be back shortly. I have several posts in my head). Pluv! I received both text and email and replied (to the gmail address). No sign of it? I'll try again. Big big hugs -- watch out for henchmen in matching jumpsuits!

Jake, sweetie, it's very kind of you to ask, and no doubt I'll get my act together soon and post all about it ... but I'd appreciate it if you didn't post that sort of identifying information here.

Xtin said...

So my apologies in advance for deleting it. No offence intended at all!

actionforswifts@yahoo.com if you need to contact me. Deletion understood and justifiable.
God bless.

Anybody know what has happened to Fretmarks?

No matter how much fun you're having, it can't be your birthday forever!

Scrivener said...

You could go into your settings and change the time-stamp settings on your comments--that way when you leave a comment saying you'll be posting soon, we'll be able to fill in the x when we say, "You think allowing x weeks to pass without that promised post still qualifies as soon?"

Scrivener said...

Like, how long has it been since I put up that last comment? Weeks? Months?

Jake Allsop said...

It'll soon be your birthday again, Xtin!

Scrivener said...

It's your birthday again?

Happy birhtday!

Scrivener said...

Oh, I get it you're just leaving this post at the top in a shameless effort to get extra birthday well-wishes. Well, I ain't falling for it.

Scrivener said...

Okay, fine, be that way.

Happy Birthday.

Are you happy? Will you post something now?

Scrivener said...

How many comments d'ya think I can leave here before you cry "uncle" and respond in some way?

Scrivener said...

I'll bet quite a few.

UNCLE! I cave! I give in!

I had this romantic notion that I should wait until I could post a Really Proper Post.

But I've been strongarmed, so now I must confess. My laptop, she is dead. I am reduced to the humiliation of checking my gmail at public workstations at my university. Oh, the shame.

The new laptop is coming. Coming round the mountain. Watch this space. My blogging will shortly be superpowered. I promise.

Scrivener said...

Yay! Good to hear from you! Tell them to hurry with the laptop.

(Between you and me, I was guessing that you'd wait to let me get to comment #33 on this post.)

Scrivener said...

OTOH, maybe I can still make it to 33!

Scrivener said...

How long does it take for a laptop to arrive?

Xtin said...

Well, it depends. First, one waits until one's employer is in the research-expenses hotseat. Then, after close consideration of Apple.co.uk lineup, one puts carefully worded proposal to them. After longwinded negotiations, detente is reached. Then, employer puts proposal to university purchasing syndicate. All being well, syndicate puts order to Apple Inc and Xtin takes joyful delivery of MacBook Pro.

At the moment, we are at that moment preceding "all being well". So everyone please kindly hope that all is well and joyful delivery is imminent.

Are we at 33 comments yet?

Scrivener said...

OK, I'm hoping that all will be well.

But we're still only at 30. How's the weather?

Heidi the Hick said...

okay, I'll be #31.

I MISS YOU XTIN!

And you are going to love that little Mac!

Tom Bozzo said...

Well, I got *my* work-issued MacBook Pro, and love it -- at least to the extent one might love a computer. Maybe if you've been stuck in university purchasing limbo, you can get one of the even niftier new models.

Xtin said...

Wooohooo! 33!It would be truly poetic for my new computer to arrive now, so I almost feel as though I should delay posting this.

We shall consider this the period between Good Friday and the resurrection. Salvation shall resume shortly.
